We are delighted that we were once again able to support the LVR School in Düsseldorf this year.
At the LVR School am Volksgarten, 220 students from grades 1 to 10 with special educational needs in the area of physical and motor development were taught during the 2021/22 school year. Such needs arise when school learning is permanently and significantly impaired due to serious functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system, damage to the brain, spinal cord, muscles, or skeletal structure, or dysfunction of organs.
The school follows a holistic concept: instruction (comprehensive learning based on individual support plans), therapy (physical therapy, occupational therapy, motopedics), and care are closely interlinked. One of the school’s tasks is to help students catch up on important developmental phases rooted in early childhood through intensive motor support. The scope of this support depends significantly on the severity of the disability as well as the diversity and intensity of the interventions.
Students are taught according to their abilities in the educational programs of elementary & secondary school, learning, and intellectual development, and they receive the corresponding school-leaving certificates. It is a full-day school with specialized student transportation. Its catchment area includes the city of Düsseldorf, parts of the Neuss district, and parts of the Mettmann district.
