The association promotes high training standards, professional recognition, and international networking—including with Osteopathy Europe (OE) and the Osteopathic International Alliance (OIA)—and publishes the German Journal of Osteopathy (DO) through Thieme Verlag. Membership requires continuous training and quality assurance work.
The Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Osteopathie e.V. (BAO): This is the only umbrella organization for osteopathic schools and associations in Germany. In the absence of state-regulated training standards, the BAO has taken on the task of establishing a high-quality minimum standard for osteopathy in Germany. With the BAO seal of quality, the association certifies osteopaths who, after successfully completing their training in accordance with the guidelines, continue to undergo further training in osteopathy and are listed on our website.
